Asplundh Engineering Services (AES) is currently seeking a Lead Responsible Engineer (LRE) for our Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region.In this role, you will provide technical guidance to project teams, ensure adherence to substation design standards and equipment specifications, and oversee successful project implementation.
As an LRE at Asplundh Engineering Services, you will work on large-scale projects ranging from 13kV to 500kV and be responsible for providing mentorship to design and engineering project teams, as well as developing standards and specifications, providing training, and mentoring staff.
You should have a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a minimum of 12 years of experience in the utilities sector.
Qualifications
Licensed Professional Engineer
12+ years' experience in the utility sector with relevant projects on applications that range from 13kV to 500kV
SME in specific areas of engineering and a recognized expert
Advanced knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, code, methods, practices, and engineering principles
Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering
Responsibilities
Design and Engineering 13kV through 500 kV substations – system protection and control packages; substation engineering - asset upgrades/replacements, brownfield facility upgrades, greenfield substations
Protection and Controls for generation, transmission, and distribution systems including generator current differential, transmission line current differential, POTT, and DCB schemes, bus current differential, transformer differential and zero sequence overcurrent, breaker failure protection, distribution feeder instantaneous overcurrent and time-overcurrent protection
Check conduit, grounding, control house, physical electrical arrangements, outdoor lighting and equipment vendor design packages
Perform and check grounding calculations, conduit fill calculations, outdoor lighting calculations, lightning protection designs calculations, strain bus and rigid bus calculations, flexible jumper calculations, arc-flash calculations, insulation coordination calculations, and ampacity calculations
Create and check material list descriptions for all major equipment
Create and check material list descriptions for all minor substation material
Ability to travel throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic is required
