Description

A Lead Engineer with Ironhouse will lead a team or work on a team to complete engineering tasks and create custom engineering solutions to meet customer needs. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to adapt in a fast-paced and evolving industry. Tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 
  • Creating and reviewing Protection & Control settings designs
  • Coordination studies
  • Short circuit studies using short circuit models
  • Event Analysis
  • Creating and reviewing HMI (Human-Machine Interface) settings
  • Creating and reviewing RTU settings designs
  • Designing and configuring operating characteristics of managed switches and LANs
  • Reviewing current industry best practices to ensure compliance with cyber security requirements
  • Leading, planning, and coordinating projects with limited supervision
  • Understanding and delivering results based on client specific standards and requirements
  • Training and developing junior personnel
  • Leading project teams and interfacing with the customer to deliver a quality product by scheduled delivery date
  • Field support including troubleshooting, testing, and setup
An ideal candidate would possess strong organizational and planning skills and would excel in a team-based environment. The candidate should approach all tasks in a detail-oriented manner, with a strong sense of ownership over all deliverables. 
Education 
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in relay/protection engineering or related industry
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Programming knowledge or experience with protection relays and other substation equipment
  • Knowledge of engineering theory, practices, and procedures
  • Registered PE (professional engineer) in Maine, Connecticut and/or New York
  • IEC 61850/Goose experience is preferred
  • Experience in power protection, relay design and planning, or substation design and telecom integration
  • Experience with substation relays and equipment such as SEL, GE, Beckwith, electromechanical relays, Ruggedcom switches, and Cimplicity HMIs
