Asplundh Engineering Services (AES) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to join our team. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and optimization of BESS projects. Your knowledge and proficiency in electrical engineering principles, as well as your specific experience in BESS, will contribute significantly to the success of our organization.

Location: Baltimore, MD ideal, will consider remote candidates

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct thorough analysis and assessment of BESS project requirements, including feasibility studies, system design, and energy storage capacity planning.

2. Design and develop electrical systems for Battery Energy Storage Systems, considering factors such as power conversion, protection, energy management, and control systems.

3. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of BESS with existing power generation and distribution systems, identifying opportunities for system improvement and optimization.

4. Perform detailed electrical simulations, modeling, and analyses to validate and verify the performance, safety, and reliability of BESS designs.

5. Develop and implement effective testing and commissioning procedures for BESS, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.

6. Provide technical expertise and support during BESS installation, troubleshooting any electrical system issues, and proposing appropriate solutions.

7. Conduct performance evaluations and monitoring of BESS systems, analyzing data and implementing corrective actions as needed to optimize system performance and efficiency.

8. Stay updated with the latest advancements in BESS technologies, emerging trends, and industry standards to propose innovative solutions and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and 10+ years overall experience.

2. Proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing Battery Energy Storage Systems.

3. Solid knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power systems, energy storage technologies, and relevant industry standards.

4. Proficiency in electrical design software and simulation tools (e.g., AutoCAD, PSCAD, MATLAB, ETAP).

5. Familiarity with power conversion, protection, and control systems related to BESS.

6. Experience in performing electrical system analysis, modeling, and simulation.

7. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues effectively.

8. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

9. Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within established deadlines.

10. A demonstrated passion for renewable energy, energy storage, and sustainability.
