Job Title: Electrical Engineer
The Engineer Position will support utility project engineers and project managers in the planning, engineering, and design of electric distribution projects. Under the guidance of PM or Senior Planner, the Planner will make site visits, take measurements, use structural programs, and utilize various utility programs and data centers in support of these projects, ensuring projects are designed to current utility, federal and state standards. This candidate will be responsible to take a project from inception (scope of work) and see it through to construction (as-built). Under the guidance of a PM or Senior Planner, the planner assists in coordination and communication tasks with other departments such as Drafting, Real Estate, Environmental, Permitting, System Planning, ETC.
This is a Hybrid WFH/Office position.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Generating single-line drawings, layouts, schedules, routing, distribution, and motor control schemes, as well as interconnection diagrams for power, lighting, and grounding systems.
- Reviewing and checking drawings to ensure that the designs meet the technical needs of the client and adhere to industry standards for reliability and safety.
- Reviewing and interpreting power system studies such as load flows, short circuits, coordination, and arc flash using ETAP and SKM programs.
- Selecting electrical equipment suitable for hazardous areas.
- Performing design for lighting and power distribution panels.
- Design lighting layout.
- Develop electrical riser diagrams and sizing equipment, feeders, etc. Layout drawings showing how the equipment will be put together.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older. Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Strong communication skills, strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills for single or multiple technical areas, and critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of utility methods, techniques, and procedures involved in distribution design.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Customer-oriented, positive, team-oriented, and collaborative attitude, flexibility, and understanding.
- Must possess a reliable vehicle.
Education & Experience
- Engineer I: 0-3 years relevant work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Design, or related discipline.
- Engineer II: 3+ years relevant work experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD preferred.
