Description

Asplundh Engineering Services is seeking a highly experienced Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) – Equipment Subject Matter Expert to join our Mid-Atlantic team. The ideal candidate will have significant Gas Insulated Switchgear experience.  Expertise in equipment functions in a High Voltage Substation (HV) up to 500kV is required.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Provide expertise for developing and updating GIS specifications, ensuring deliverables meet client technical requirements and follow best practices.
  • Work with the Client's Sourcing group to develop and submit bidding packages to the approved Vendors.
  • Respond to GIS Vendor questions during the bidding process.
  • Review Vendor Bids, including technical information and preliminary GIS drawings
  • Lead the GIS proposal evaluation effort and coordinate with the Client and Owner's Engineer to arrive at a recommendation for the successful Vendor
  • Assist the Client Sourcing group through GIS equipment award.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings with the project team consisting of the Client, Engineer of Choice (EOC) and OE and provide support related to the GIS equipment purchasing process.
  • Review GIS vendor equipment drawings and designs at the various stages and resolve related issues. Provide comments as required.
  • Successful candidate will be responsible for supporting all GIS equipment related aspects of each assigned project.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the GIS Equipment field up to and including 500kV, with extensive knowledge of Gas Insulated Switchgear.
  • Experience in developing/Editing GIS  specifications, and assisting the Client Sourcing Group with GIS procurement
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to correspond with GIS vendors and provide recommendations regarding high-voltage engineering issues.
  • Ability to attend project status meetings, schedule review meetings, and provide support during construction activities.
  • Ability to review GIS Vendor Drawings and provide technical comments.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
