Job Title: Utility Planner Engineer
The Planning position will support utility project engineers and project managers in the planning, engineering, and design of electric distribution projects. Under the guidance of PM or Senior Planner, the Planner will make site visits, take measurements, use structural programs, and utilize various utility programs and data centers in support of these projects, ensuring projects are designed to current utility, state and federal standards. This candidate will be responsible to take a project from inception (scope of work) and see it through to construction. Under the guidance of a PM or Senior Planner, the planner assists in coordination and communication tasks with other departments such as Drafting, Real Estate, Environmental, Permitting, System Planning, ETC.
This is a Hybrid WFH/Office position.
- Prepare construction plan for electric distribution infrastructure projects
- Design the installation, removal and maintenance of facilities, structures and equipment according to utility standards and local/state/federal regulations
- Perform occasional field visits to asses conditions of existing components of the distribution system and collect data used in the design process
- Use various structural analysis tools to confirm support structures such as poles and anchors, meet strength requirement
- Use various GIS/mapping tools to assist in the design process
- Coordinate with other disciplines during the project lifespan to ensure all locations -based design requirements are met, such as environmental, civil, operating rights and permitting etc
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills for single or multiple technical areas, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Customer-oriented, positive, team-oriented, and collaborative attitude, flexibility, and un
- Must possess a reliable vehicle.
- Knowledge of utility methods, techniques, and procedures involved in electric distribution design preferred.
Education & Experience
- Planner I 0-3 years relevant work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Planning,Engineering, Design, or related discipline.
- Planner II 3+ years relevant work experience.
- Experience with CAD preferred.
