As a Temporary Roaming Work Planner with ECI, your office is the great outdoors! We keep the lights on anywhere there is a power line - whether in the city, the rural countryside, or deep in the remote forest. As an ECI Forester, you will keep communities informed about the trees and power lines while ensuring safe delivery of their power.

You are accountable for advancing a culture of safety and excellence while providing quality and value to our customers and clients.
This is a temporary role with an undefined end date. There is potential for conversion to a full-time role, but no guarantees. Travel throughout the designated service area is required (per diem paid).
The pay range for this position is from $22.00 to $25.00 per hour, contingent upon relevant education, experience, and industry-specific certifications. This specified range is determined by the tier associated with the job posting. However, should the employee be classified under a different tier, the compensation may fall outside the stated range.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Inspect and assess right-of-way for trimming or removals of trees.
- Prescribe, record, organize, and document associated vegetation work for later trimming and removal by a tree crew.
- Notify landowners of prescribed work on their property to occur at a later date.
- Perform danger tree assessments.
- Provide identified access routes onto and in ROW.
- Operate system forestry computer programs and record systems.
- Assist in storm and emergency situations and other miscellaneous line clearance projects.
- Communicate daily with the utility client, contractors, landowners, and the general public.
- Patrol utility right of ways independently or in teams, and able to work well on a crew with other planners.
- Perform duties in a manner that will promote and maintain good public relations.
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:
- Solid, local tree identification skills.
- 1-3 years of UVM, Forestry or related outdoor experience.
- Willingness to travel throughout the Carolinas or Oklahoma extensively.
- Willingness to work overtime hours as needed.
- Ability to read maps.
- Willingness to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, smartphones).
WHAT WOULD BE AMAZING TO HAVE:
- Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or related discipline.
- Certification as an ISA Arborist, Registered Forester, or other related certificates/licenses preferred.
- Prior experience using GIS software preferred.
- A strong desire to grow and develop your career and knowledge in the UVM industry with ECI.
- Bi-lingual speaking (English and Spanish).
