We are currently seeking a highly motivated and self-directed Forestry Project Coordinator to effectively support, train, and lead our Foresters and Work Planners throughout the FirstEnergy Met Ed Service territory. Some of the most important characteristics of ECI Forestry Project Coordinator is that you are open-minded and able to engage in safe, constructive interactions with the public. You are accountable for advancing a culture of safety and excellence while providing quality and value to our customers and clients.  Successful candidates come from varied educational backgrounds in fields such as an arboriculture, environmental science, ecology, forestry, natural resource management, and conservation biology or experience as an arborist, plant healthcare technician, herbicide applicator, groundman, foreman, or general foreman.
The pay range for this position is from $23.00 - $32.00 per hour, contingent upon relevant education, experience, and industry-specific certifications. This specified range is determined by the tier associated with the job posting. However, should the employee by classified under a different tier, the compensation may fall outside the stated range.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Work closely with Account Manager and client supervision manage work planning efforts, estimate workloads, track planning progress, make hiring decisions, and train new work planners.
  • Address any issues with work planners’ work, as well as executed work by tree vendor.
  • Resolve refusal or difficult customer interactions.
  • Ensure safety and technical specifications training is carried out within the ECI team and documentation recorded.
  • Assist with pre-planning, planning, safety oversight, and QA when needed.

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to utilize and train on technology.
  • Solid tree identification skills.
  • 1+ year utility operations supervisory experience required.
  • Associates degree in Forestry or related field
  • Strong working knowledge or practical experience in all aspects of integrated vegetation management in the utility field.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of subordinates to exceed key process indicators.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Independent decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to represent ECI and its services in a professional and positive manner.
  • Strong knowledge of & experience in common computer applications, with ability to learn new programs.

WHAT WOULD BE AMAZING TO HAVE:
  • Utility Specialist and PA Herbicide Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • ISA Arborist Certification a plus.
  • Prior GIS software/technology experience a plus.
  • Bi-lingual speaking (English and Spanish) is a plus.

 

Work Environment:

 · Work with a team and alone; primarily in an outdoor field environment and/or low light conditions; foot patrol of energy corridors in the vicinity of power lines and/or pipelines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demands and travel from site to site, including: walking/hiking on various surfaces including flat, dry, wet, slippery, rocky, sandy, uneven, rough, unstable, steep terrain, hills and slopes, dense vegetation; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, and all types of weather extremes including snow, ice, fog, humidity, and low and high temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions, domestic and wild animals, insects, and poisonous plants. Other working conditions may include: in a vehicle or limited time in an indoor office.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

· This is a full-time hourly, non-exempt position

· Must be willing to work overtime as required

· Must be willing to occasionally travel overnight as requested
